Dr. Jorens Philippe
Biography
Philippe Jorens graduated in medicine (MD) in 1987 at the University of Antwerp, UIA, with high distinction. He obtained his PhD degree at the University of Antwerp (UA), UIA in 1993 on a topic entitled “Nitric oxide and interleukin-8: two mediators released by pulmonary macrophages”. He is the chairman of the department of critical care medicine, at Antwerp University Hospital, University of Antwerp and president of the medical council. He is a Full professor in critical care medicine at the Faculty of Medicine. Prof Jorens obtained many other additional certificates: In 1994: Innsbruck, European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine, written part. In 1994: Ghent, European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine, oral part. In 1997: Tilburg, Advanced Trauma Life Support (Am College of Surgeons). In 2004: Clinical Pharmacologist (Dutch Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Biopharmacy). In 2006 Vlerick Management School. General management for the hospital doctor. In 2008: Advanced neuro ICU management (Hamburg – Germany). He is author and co-author of > 200 peer reviewed articles and book chapters.
