Dr. Kurt Boeykens
Biography
Kurt obtained a bachelor degree followed by a master in nursing. He was the head nurse of the nephrology gastroenterology department in the AZ Nikolaas in Belgium from 1997 till 2000. Since 2000 he is nutrition nurse specialist and Coordinator of the Nutrition Support Team at the same hospital. In the past 15 years he had the opportunity to get fully involved in the interesting field of clinical nutrition and metabolism. He loves to do his job on the workfloor in a multidisciplinary way. Getting more qualified and certified he could expand his professional network and currently he is in contact with many distinguished clinical nutrition experts in Europe. He also gets more and more involved in the European Society for Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition (ESPEN) currently as a LLL-teacher, congress speaker (Leipzig 2013, Geneva 2014, Lisbon 2015) and member of the ECPC (Educational and clinical practice committee). Together with a few other board members, his key responsibility is to prepare the content and the speakers of the educati or the upcoming ESPEN congresses until 2018.
