Dr. Alexandre Joosten
Biography
Dr. Alexandre Joosten graduaded from medical school at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in 2008. He subsequently went on to receive his training in anesthesiology at CHU Brugmann, from which he graduated in 2013. He then started practicing in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesia at CUB Erasme in Brussels. In February 2014, he decided to diversify his professional knowledge and skills with a 1 year research fellowship at the University of California, Irvine, USA with Dr. Maxime Cannesson as his personal mentor. There, he worked as a leading member of his research team on goal directed therapy strategies and how to implement this concept at the bedside. His others interests include noninvasive cardiac output monitoring devices, fluid therapy, and many other novel perioperative technologies. Dr. Joos-ten’s main research currently focuses on testing the impact of perioperative hemodynamic optimization using closed-loop automated fluid management system on postoperative outcome of patients undergoing high risk surgery.
